Therapeutic secrets from Karine and 35 years of practice

ANXIETY
Today I am going to share some tips I have regarding anxiety. Feel free to ask me questions with [email protected]

Anxiety can be likened to a small child that continually nags. We hear and feel that something must be done RIGHT NOW. We cant sleep, we cant enjoy life and we are filled with a sense of impeding doom that approaches. With the current pandemic many people are filled with worry..when will it end? Will I get sick? What of my future?

Unfortunately if anxiety goes unchecked it can escalate to the point when we are afraid to do anything and we live as hermits. Here are some suggestions from my 35 years of experience that can help;

1) Recognize when you are worried and stressed. Dont push aside your worries
2) Validate your worries and write them down. If you dont do this, your worries will continue to nag. I have had clients who tell me they have hundreds of worries but they can only articulate 2 or three. Where are the other hundreds? They are unformed phantoms.
3) Once you write down your worry analyze it. Is it a worry that you can do something about? If not it is hardly worth the effort. By analyzing your worries you can allay many unfounded fears.

Delay
Perhaps one of the most effective ways, once you have written down your fears is to delay your worry. In other words tell yourself that you do not have time to worry about this RIGHT NOW but you will in an hour. Keep that promise and start to worry in an hour. You will be surprised.

Anxiety also prevents us from sleep because the worries spin in our heads and torment us. Please see my next blog on sleep techniques.
